General Description
Stemless, rhizomatous, fibrous-rooted perennial. Leaves basal, sheathing, linear, 5–15 cm × 2–5 mm, leathery. Inflorescence an umbel of several pedicellate flowers; peduncle and pedicels below ground. Flowers regular, white, tubular; tube 4–8 cm long; lobes spreading, lanceolate, 1–2 cm long; stamens included, inserted in the tube; ovary superior; style 3-lobed. Fruit an obovoid capsule, 5–7 mm long, subterranean (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
