General Description
Taprooted biennial. Stems erect, simple, 50–100 cm. Herbage pubescent, glandular above. Leaves basal and alternate, petiolate; the blade 2–15 cm long, lanceolate, serrate, reduced upward. Inflorescence a secund, bracteate raceme; bracts entire. Flowers short-pedicellate; calyx of 5 separate, ovate sepals, 10–18 mm long; corolla narrowly campanulate, pale purple-mottled, 3–5 cm long; stamens 4; stigmas 2. Capsule opening by 4 valves (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
