General Description
Stems erect to lax, 15–70 cm with hirsute foliage, sometimes rooting at the nodes. Basal leaf blades 3–8 cm long, ternate, the obcordate leaflets deeply 3-lobed and dentate. Flowers with petals 4–6 mm long, longer than the sparsely long-hairy sepals. Achenes glabrous, 2–3 mm long with a straight beak 1–1.5 mm long; head ovoid, 7–11 mm high (Lesica et al. 2012. Moist to wet meadows, often around ponds or streams, tolerant of alkali; plains, valleys, montane (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Ecology
