Cut-leaved Anemone - Anemone multifida var. multifida
General Description
Stems 10–50 cm from a branched caudex. Leaves sparsely to moderately long-hairy; blades 3–8 cm wide, 2 to 3 times ternately divided and lobed; ultimate segments tapered to the acute tip. Inflorescence 1- to several-flowered subtended by 1 to 2 tiers of leaf-like bracts. Flowers with 5 to 7 white to rose-purple sepals, 7–15 mm. Diagnostic Characteristics
Variety multifida lacks the recurved or hooked beaks of variety tetonensis.
Range Comments
AK across most of Canada, south to northern CA, northern parts of AZ and NM, and farther east to NE, MN, WI, MI, NY and ME (Kartesz 2009).
