General Description
Stems 20–80 cm from extensive rhizomes. Leaves appressed-hairy; blades 4–8 cm long with 3 to 5 toothed lobes; ultimate segments 1–4 cm wide. Inflorescence of 1 to 3 flowers subtended by 3 sessile, 3-lobed bracts 2–6 cm long. Flowers with 4 to 6 white sepals, 10–20 mm long. Achenes in an ovoid head, sparsely hairy, 3–6 mm long; beaks straight, ca. 3 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
