Pyrola elliptica is uncommon and occurs sporadically in montane, riparian forests and mesic sites across western and central Montana. Populations are poorly documented, and it is likely somewhat under-reported/undercollected. No significant and widespread threats to the species are known.
Additional survey data is needed to be able to better assess population levels, habitat condition and potential threats.
