General Description

Taprooted perennial herbs. Stems erect or ascending, 20–80 cm, glabrate to puberulent. Leaves linear to narrowly ovate, sessile to short-petiolate; the blade 4–10 cm long, glabrate, sometimes glaucous below. Inflorescence viscid-pubescent, openly branched; involucres green, ca. 4 mm long, mostly 3-flowered. Flowers pink to purple, 8–10 mm long. Fruits 5–6 mm long, with hair-tipped tubercles (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments

One MT collection from Sheridan County; throughout much of North America apart from northwestern and northeastern U.S. (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
