Common in Carbon county in clayey soils across 1,000's of acres. Commonly associated with Artemisia pedatifida.
 
General Description
Perennial from elongate caudex branches. Stems erect, unbranched below the inflorescence, 10–25 cm. Herbage puberulent, glandular above. Leaves basal and cauline, petiolate, alternate; blades narrowly ovate to elliptic, 2–8 cm long, entire. Inflorescence corymbiform with few heads. Heads radiate; involucre campanulate, 7–10 mm high; phyllaries 9 to 21, narrowly lanceolate, subequal in 2 series, green, glandular; receptacle convex, naked. Ray flowers 6 to 12, female, yellow; ligules 6–12 mm long. Disk flowers 25 to 80, perfect, orangish, glandular; corollas 5–7 mm long; throat much wider than tube. Pappus of 8 to 16 oblanceolate scales. Achenes hirsute, obconic, 4-angled, 3–5 mm long (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
