General Description
Short-lived taprooted perennial. Stems erect, often branched at the base, 20–70 cm. Leaves 3–8 cm long; basal petiolate, oblanceolate; cauline linear-oblanceolate, sessile, decurrent on the stem. Glomerules terminal in an open ovoid to pyramidal inflorescence, surpassing subtending leaves. Involucres 5–6 mm high; phyllaries white, with acute tips, sometimes tomentose at the base. Inner corollas 3–4 mm long. Achenes 0.5–1 mm long; pappus deciduous separately (
