General Description
Fibrous-rooted perennial. Stems erect, simple, 30–70 cm, tomentose. Leaves alternate, petiolate; blades 3–15 cm long, deltoid, cordate, dentate to shallowly lobed, glabrous above, tomentose beneath. Inflorescence an open panicle, minutely bracteate, stipitate-glandular. Heads discoid; involucre 1–2 mm long; phyllaries ca. 5, ovate, green, ciliate; receptacle hemispheric, naked. Disk flowers white, the outer female, the inner functionally male; corolla ca. 1 mm long; style branches short or absent. Pappus absent. Achenes linear-oblong, 5–8 mm long, stipitate-glandular above (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
