General Description
Taprooted annual. Stems simple or branched, 30–80 cm. Herbage glabrate but stems and inflorescences glandular-pubescent. Leaves basal and cauline, petiolate; blades lanceolate, 5–8 cm long, becoming short-petiolate, narrower up the stem. Inflorescence axillary, few-flowered cymes and a terminal panicle. Flowers narrowly funnel-form; calyx 5–7 mm long, teeth unequal and shorter than the tube; corolla white, 2–3 cm long, the limb 10–14 mm wide. Fruit a 4-valved, ovoid capsule, 8–12 mm long, mostly enclosed in the pustulate calyx (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments
BC, MT, south to CA, AZ, NM and Mexico. Known from Lewis & Clark County and 2 collections from unknown southwest counties (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
