Common Crupina - Crupina vulgaris

Crupina vulgaris is not documented in Montana (MTNHP Status Review 2023). In the United States, its range is reported to occur from Washington to California and east to adjacent Idaho, and as Crupina crupina in Massachusetts (Giblin et al. [eds.] 2018). It was included on the Montana noxious weed list for years before 2010 as a precaution. Common Crupina (Crupina vulgaris) was removed from the Montana noxious weed list because observations were not found and research suggested that habitat in the state is not suitable (Montana State University 2010). Further, Common Crupina has not been included in the Manual of Montana Vascular Plants (Lesica et. al 2012 and 2022). A conservation status rank is not applicable (SNA) because the plant is exotic (non-native) and not a suitable target for conservation activities.
