General Description
Acaulescent. Herbage villous, glandular-pubescent. Leaflets 15 to 35, lanceolate to ovate, 8–15 mm long. Stipules white-papery, deltoid, 3–16 mm long. Inflorescence of 3 to 20 flowers, 5–25 cm long including the peduncle. Flowers red-purple; calyx glandlar-hairy; sepals narrowly lanceolate, 2–4 mm long; banner 11–15 mm long. Legume erect, 10–15 mm long, viscid, black- and/or white-strigose (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Our plants are variety viscida (Nutt.) S.L. Welsh.

Sparsely vegetated, gravelly soil of grasslands, exposed ridges at all elevations (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
