General Description
Plants usually loosely branched. Leaves in whorls of 4, 1–3 mm long, stiff, strap-shaped with a whitish tip; the medial groove with distinct ridges; margins ciliate. Strobili 1–3 cm long, 4-angled. Sporophylls broadly lanceolate, ciliate with a short bristle-tip.The green leaves contrast sharply with the brown stem where they are joined (Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants.
