General Description
Large monoecious or dioecious, shrubs or small trees up to 15 m. Twigs glabrous, red to purple. Leaves ovate-cordate, glabrous, 3–12 cm across, 3- to 5-lobed, doubly serrate; petioles red. Inflorescence a few-flowered panicle on short leafy side shoots. Flowers functionally unisexual; sepals and petals 3–4 mm long, yellowish, distinctly veined; stamens 8 to 10. Samara 2–4 cm long, the seed ca. 5 mm long (
