Food Habits
In Glacier N.P.at 2150m, selected for old growth (herbs, grasses, sedges uncovered from snow more than 7 days). A sympatric population of Spermophilus columbianus selected for new growth.

Ecology
Can apparently outcompete Marmota flaviventris in high-elev. habitats.
