General Description

Stems 1–5 dm long. Leaves: blades 2–3 mm wide. Inflorescence an open panicle 5–20 cm long. Spikelets 5–8 mm long. Lemmas 6 to 12 per spikelet (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Range Comments

Throughout most of North America (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).

Habitat

Sporadic in MT and known from disturbed sites including sandy or gravelly banks of the Yellowstone and Big Horn Rivers (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
