General Description
Warm season, annual bunchgrass or in large patches. Stems 10–30 cm. Leaves: blades 1–3 mm wide, flat and ascending; ligule hairy, ca. 1 mm long. Inflorescence a cylindrical spike-like panicle 1–6 cm long, 2.5–4 mm wide. Spikelets 2–2.5 mm long with 1 floret; glumes enclosing the floret. Lemmas 1.5–2.5 mm long. Disarticulation below glumes; unit of dispersal the spikelet (Lavin in Lesica et al. 2012. Manual of Montana Vascular Plants. BRIT Press. Fort Worth, TX).
